Figuring Out Who We Were
Words From Jen Sackowski C’13 | Newman Vice President
“Newman was definitely one of the things that got me through life at Penn and brought joy into my life. I was desperately searching for my niche when I got to Penn and thankfully found it at Newman. I made so many friends there and we spent almost all of our free time at the Newman Center. I used to nap on the Newman couches very regularly and quite literally did not leave there during finals week. We were able to talk about the important issues in our lives and in our world without feeling judged, but instead feeling loved. It helped us to figure out who we were and our place in the world. We had opportunities to reach out to our community and spread love to others, which often gets lost when you're focusing on your hectic college life. I can definitely say that my time at Penn was better because of my involvement with Newman.”
